Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes is like no other event. We will walk with hundreds of passionate people from our community. Join your neighbors, local businesses and volunteers and join this beautiful walk.

EVENT UPDATE -- RAIN CAN'T STOP US FROM FIGHTING DIABETES!

Thank you for your flexibility and patience as we worked through a plan to reconnect after having to cancel our Step Out event. We may not be able to walk at the National Mall this year, but we can still celebrate YOU, our community of supporters… and Build Wellness Together!
Join us on Saturday, October 21st (2-5PM) for our Fall Festival at the American Diabetes Association Headquarters (2451 Crystal Dr., Arlington, VA 22202) to celebrate all our efforts to fight diabetes. Parking is free! The first-ever Fall Festival will have crafts, food to snack on, kids’ activities, health education, music, a pumpkin patch, and more. Make sure to come out so you can pick up your official Step Out t-shirts! Don’t forget… if you have not earned your t-shirt, there is still time!
We are still fundraising for our region and are just $40K away from meeting our goal! Fundraising will officially close on October 26th at 6 PM! Keep fighting with us, DMV region, to stop diabetes!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: STEP OUT FOR 9/23 CANCELED. Due to the Tropical Storm forecast and out of concern for the safety of our participants, volunteers, and staff, we are canceling the Step Out® DC/MD/NOVA event on 9/23. We’re back for 2023; the event will be bigger and better in 2023! Please join us for the Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes as we “Build Wellness Together.” Nearly 133 million people in the U.S. have Diabetes or prediabetes, and 283,000 under the age of 20 are estimated to have been diagnosed with Diabetes. The American Diabetes Association (A.D.A.) believes in focusing on one goal at a time and setting “S. M.A.R.T.” goals to help you reach your health goals. It is not one giant step that changes your health. It is lots of little steps, and the A.D.A. wants to be part of that journey. Come and walk with us and let’s start the journey together!


About the DC/MD/NoVA Step Out
The walk will be a family friendly stroll of 1.83 miles through a beautiful path around Washington, DC passing through the Cross Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool Plaza, and we will finish back at the Ellipse.

We walk rain or shine, so please dress accordingly. Your health and safety are our priority. In the event of severe weather or lightning, the event may be postponed or canceled. You will be notified via email or text and this page will be updated.

Registration Opens at 9:00AM to the sounds of DJ One Love and hosted by WUSA 9 Lesli Foster and Lorenzo Hall
Warmups by NFL trainer The Coach Savage with the Elite Athletic Program will kick off at 10AM
Walk Kick Off at 10:45AM featuring Cheers DC cheerleaders celebrating all our walkers!
Wellness Festival: 11:00am-12:30pm

This year’s wellness festival will be filled with lots of fun surprises! We will have health screenings by Kaiser & INOVA Health. DC Retro Jumpers will be on site teaching people how to Double Dutch and much more!
