Why do we Walk?
Diabetes is a Pandemic
Every 21 seconds someone hears the three words that will change their life as they know it: "you have diabetes."
Here’s just one example of the American Diabetes Association in Action:
“My fiancée and I spend $280 every three weeks for her insulin. Her insurance doesn’t cover the drug she uses, but it’s the only one that’s worked well for her. Do we sell the house that we just built or do we live? Those are the choices we face.” Bill K.
To date, close to half a million have signed the petition to make insulin affordable . The Association is working tirelessly on this issue:
- Calls upon all entities in the insulin supply chain, including manufacturers, wholesalers, insurers and pharmacies to substantially increase transparency in pricing associated with delivery of insulin to the end user-patient.
- Calls upon all entities in the insulin supply chain to ensure that no person with diabetes is denied affordable access to insulin; and
- Calls upon Congress to hold hearings with all entities in the insulin supply chain to identify the reasons for the dramatic increases in insulin prices and to take action to ensure that all people who use insulin have affordable access to the insulin they need.
