Camp is a magical place.
We are so excited to be heading to camp in Summer 2023! Since 1978, the American Diabetes Association has transformed the lives of thousands of children with diabetes in our New Mexico by empowering them to independently manage their diabetes through the New Mexico Camp 180°— a week-long, residential summer camp for children and teens ages 8 to 16 with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. The camp program includes 24-hour medical supervision, meals and snacks, housing, fun activities, and most diabetes supplies. Camp medical staff provide campers information and skills they need to SUCCESSFULLY LIVE WITH DIABETES in any situation. The main goal of the ADA New Mexico Camp 180° is to allow campers to feel at ease and accepted in a community where having diabetes is the rule, not the exception. Children go home feeling more self-confident, self-reliant, and having gained the knowledge they need to LIVE FULL LIVES with diabetes. Many children come to camp not knowing any other people with diabetes, especially kids like themselves. FRIENDSHIPS are made which literally last a lifetime. The 2023 New Mexico Camp for Kids with Diabetes will be held at Fort Lone Tree in Capitan, NM.
"23 in 23"
Putting on such an intensive, week-long camp for 100+ kids in not cheap, however. So, we are seeking businesses and individuals to join us in our “23 in 23” campaign. We are seeking 23 generous businesses and individuals give a gift of $2,500 or more, to help achieve our goal to fully fund Camp 180° in 2023. Of course, contributions of any amount are greatly appreciated and help us toward our goal.
