Camp is a magical place
We are so excited to be heading back to Camp 180° New Mexico in 2024. The American Diabetes Association has transformed the lives of thousands of children with diabetes in New Mexico by empowering them to independently manage their diabetes through Camp 180° — a week-long, residential summer camp for children and teens with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. The camp program includes 24-hour medical supervision, meals and snacks, housing, fun activities, and most diabetes supplies. Camp medical staff provide campers information and skills they need to SUCCESSFULLY LIVE WITH DIABETES in any situation.
The main goal of Camp 180° is to allow campers to feel at ease and accepted in a community where having diabetes is the rule, not the exception. Children go home feeling more self-confident, self-reliant, and having gained the knowledge they need to LIVE FULL LIVES with diabetes. Many children come to camp not knowing any other people with diabetes, especially kids like themselves. FRIENDSHIPS are made which literally last a lifetime.
The 2024 New Mexico Camp for Kids with Diabetes will be held on June 9 - 15, 2024 in Torreon, NM.
Camp 180 was established in 1978 and has served 3,000+ campers. This summer, we'll host 60 campers at Manzano Mountain Retreat. This woodland setting is a wonderful place to commune with nature just outside Albuquerque where campers will enjoy swimming, archery, hiking, high ropes course, giant swing, racing, horseback riding and tons of other fun activities.
Join us in giving children living with diabetes the gift of camp!
