My Story
Over the past two decades several people close to me have had their lives impacted by diabetes – both Type 1 and Type 2. My Dad was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in his 60’s. My daughter, Claire, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes over 16 years ago. She is my hero regarding her maturity and responsibility in all that she has to do DAILY related to this chronic illness. Claire often wishes she could “take a vacation” from her diabetes, but she knows that she can’t. A few years ago, one of my best friends (my age) was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. He lives with it daily. My guess is that you know someone who has diabetes, too.
