Support Me in Tour de Cure!
I will be cycling in the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure fund-raising event. In Dec. 2005 I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Talk about a life changing event! The best analogy that I ever read about what it is like to have diabetes was this: "It is like walking down a road carved in a cliff face while blindfolded. You never know when you might fall off the edge of the road into the depths of hypoglycemia or veer the other way and smack into the rock wall of hyperglycemia."
The ADA provides help to those with Type 1 and 2 Diabetes and their families and provides funding for research into new medications, new devices and for a cure. One of the receipents of research funding is a lab at MGH that has a Type 1 cure in Phase II clinical trials and has had very promising results (may even help Type 2)!
Please support me with a donation by selecting the "Click Here to Sponsor Me" link. Our efforts will help set the pace in the fight against diabetes. So let's get in gear and bike to beat diabetes!
