Thirty years ago, I started riding in Tour de Cure to get back on my bike. Since then, I’ve been riding to give back and make a difference for people living with diabetes. Generous contributions from people like you have made this possible.
First as a rider, then as a Planning Committee member and chairman for the weeklong New England Classic Tour de Cure, I found a way to combine something I enjoy with doing some for others. In that time, a pastime evolved into a passion for an event and a cause. Many people have supported my efforts, none more than my wife and three sons who stepped up as volunteers for the New England Classic for years.
In 2014, my passion became my profession as I started working for the American Diabetes Association and raising funds to support its mission through Tour de Cure. The past two years have been challenging to our organization and our mission as we, like everyone else, faced a pandemic.
COVID-19 posed an even greater threat to people with diabetes and made our efforts to support them more important than ever. I’m asking you to help us stand by people with diabetes as we raise funds and raise awareness of this insidious disease.
Our 2022 Tour will take place in Lexington, Mass., where in 1775 American colonists began their fight for independence. It’s a fitting location for the Tour since Tour de Cure is part of the ADA's fight to free more than 34 million Americans from the tyranny of diabetes.
I appreciate any contribution you can make. Now, more than ever, every dollar counts. Thank you.
