Welcome to my fundraising page!
I am asking you to support me in the Tour de Cure® because finding a cure for diabetes means a better world for millions.
I joined the Tour de Cure because today alone over 4,100 people will be diagnosed and because more than 30 million adults and children in the United States are living with this terrible disease.
I also joined because.... throughout my entire working career, starting with middle school summer jobs, I have worked with people who have had to deal with diabetes in their daily life. Some have suffered through bouts of illness and seriously disruptive medical procedures. Some have worked patiently through well monitored, and effective treatment plans. Some were just trying to adjust their insulin in a Wendy's parking lot when the police were notified of a potential heroin situation.....(education efforts from your contribution ought to assist with that last one). All these folks were able to receive treatment, support, and educational information through the types of programs which the A.D.A.'s Tour de Cure actively supports and fights to maintain. Riding means the list of those I know who are receiving help continues to grow.
I have the privilege to work on fundraising and pedal through this ride with a great crew of co-workers from Xactly Corporation, including some Red Riders (meaning participants with a diagnosis of Type 1/Type 2 diabetes). It's an energetic crew, and I'm looking forward to congratulating them all on their efforts to achieve our fundraising, and riding goals come September 10th, 2022.
We are in some weird times, and I make this ask knowing exactly that. In a previous request running up to last year's Tour de Cure I asked for any willing contributor to put down a donation which matched the bill of their breakfast burrito(s). I still think this is quite doable. Even when we are pressed in such times we should all commit to the practice and remember that there is strength in numbers (numbers also reads: 'Community').
We all fight for something, so even if I haven't caught you on a multi-burrito day which leads you to contribute to this ride, please take it as a friendly reminder to get back in touch with that community which you have seen make a difference.
