Welcome to my Tour de Cure page!
Please help me raise crucial funds to support diabetes research so that kids like me living with type one diabetes can achieve a more healthy life.
This year one of my favorite events, the Tour de Cure, is back in person and I'm so excited! This is one time when having diabetes doesn't get me down. I love seeing all of the people who are there because I know that they are supporting the same goal as me - curing this disease! I often talk to my family and make believe of how my days would be different if I didn't have diabetes. I can't even remember what that was like now since I was 4 and a half when I was diagnosed. That was 5 years ago!
It would mean so much to me to not have to worry about checking my blood sugar throughout the day, or properly guessing the exact number of carbs that I'm eating so that I can "dose" for each meal. The Thanksgiving dessert table is especially tough! I had a return visit to the ER after my first Thanksgiving dinner when I was only a few weeks post diagnosis because my blood sigra got so dangeroulsy high. That was scary! In school I sometimes have to sit out at PE or recess because my blood sugar dips too low. This means I could lose conciousness or even die. That makes me feel really frustrated and different.
Diabetes is a part of me, but I sure love to imagine if there's the chance I could say goodbye to that part of me!
