Family and Friends:
I am writing to ask you to please support my ride in the 2021 Tour de Cure!
Finding a cure for diabetes is very personal to me. As I reflect on the past 59 years that I've lived with type 1 diabetes, relatively unscathed, I realize I have done well in part because of research and work done by the American Diabetes Association. This is also the first year I've riden in this event since my father-in-law Vic Brenk, passed away from complications of type 2 diabetes and i'm doing the 2021 Tour de Cure in his honor.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Tour de Cure. I was on the MN ADA board of directors in the early years of the "Diabetes Bike-A-Thon" which in 1985, was a significant source of funds for the Minnesota ADA affiliate's research and service programs. The national ADA liked what we did in Minnesota and turned it into what is now the national Tour de Cure.
Below is what the funds you donate do:
- Provide access to community programs and free resources that help those living with diabetes.
- Advocate for laws and funding that benefits children and adults living with diabetes.
- Fund important research for those living with diabetes and to bring us closer to a cure.
Thank you so much in advance for your support of my work to help the ADA by making a generous donation to this cause, which is so important to me.
