It's time to Step Out to Fight Diabetes!
1.My quest began in 2007 my mom was a type 2 Diabetic, In January 2007 she had all her toes removed on the left foot by the end of March she had all her toes removed on the right foot, she had a small set back and a revision was done to the right foot in June 2007, she was wheel chair bound, her vision was also impaired due to the disease. December 12, 2008 my mother passed away due to this disease. I saw up close and personal what diabetes does to the nerves, the kidneys etc.
2. With a history of the disease on both sides of our family in which as of 2008 I can now add my father who has now passed away . My sister was diagnosed in 2001 and passed away in 2002 at the age of 42. I received the news in 2005 just after my 41st birthday. I refuse to let this disease get the best of me. I am making this walk for my family, extended family as well as for myself. This is my 16th year walking with the American Diabetes Assoc. This is a personal battle and I won't give up.
