SO MANY LIVES ARE TOUCHED BY DIABETES. CHANCES ARE YOUR LIFE IS TOO.
After the death of my mother in early 2005, my family and I committed to making a difference in the fight and struggle to find a cure for an unforgiving disease. In September 2005, we participated in our first Step Out Walk to fight Diabetes and haven't missed a walk since. When we walk on September 23rd, it will mark our 19th consecutive walk. We have walked in the rain, in the sun, in the wind, in the hot and cold, during COVID-19; and we continue to show up.
Hudak Walkers are walking in memory of Anna Hudak (my mom), Steve Hudak (my dad), and Marie Lobitz (aunt, my mom's twin) who passed away from complications of type 2 diabetes and in honor of Chris Hudak (my brother) who fights diabetes each day. The Association funds research to prevent, cure and manage diabetes; delivers services to hundreds of communities; provides objective and credible information; and gives voice to those denied their rights because of diabetes.
We want to help, and I'm asking you to help, too. Together we can do so much more. When you support me in Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes, you make a difference in the lives of 25.8 million American children and adults and their families. Diabetes is a growing epidemic with a devastating physical, emotional, and financial toll on our country. It kills more Americans each year than AIDS and breast cancer COMBINED.
Chances are, you also know someone who has been affected by diabetes and you already know how important it is to stop this disease. By making a donation on my behalf or by joining my team, you will be helping the Association provide community-based education programs, protect the rights of people with diabetes and fund critical research for a cure.
With you help, we will fight for the future where a parent does not have to hear that their child has diabetes. A future where an adult does not have to face the uncertain times ahead after receiving a diabetes diagnosis. A future where you and I will know that we had a part in making this possible.
I truly appreciate your support Together we can Stop Diabetes!
