Working for the American Diabetes Association is not just a job, it is personal. We lost my favorite uncle, Uncle Keith, to complications of Type 1 way too young. He missed so many adventures with my Aunt Carol and his kids, and he missed seeing his grandchildren grow up. In our beautiful blended modern family, we have Type 1 and Type 2 and see the impacts, struggles, complications and worries on a regular basis. And I am in the prediabetes space working hard to back away from that threshhold and own my health.
It's personal. For me and for 37 million Americans living with diabetes.
So, although I raise funds every day for the American Diabets Association - to fund critical research, camps for kids living with diabetes, programs to learn to live with your diagnosis, for advocacy and so much more, I want to make this fundraising personal.
Diabetes never stops, and neither will I. Scroll through your phone or social media friends and I guarantee at least one (and probably a lot more) people you know are impacted by this disease.
Please donate or join me at the walk and start your own fundraising. We are Connected for Life and Step Out is a great way to be together to support.
