Our team supports the American Diabetes Association® because we want to make a difference. 

Almost a quarter of a million people in Texas have diabetes. Type II diabetes is affecting children younger and younger. I have had a 30 year career in health, from a researcher studying metabolism and diabetes to now leading a non profit health information exchange in Texas. Diabetes affects communities as well as individuals, and needs action at both levels. Our greatest positive impact is through collaboration, the individual, the environment (access to healthy food, safe space to exercise), policy, education, and medicine. If each of these works in isolation there is no compound effect (I think of compound interest and the wisdom of starting early). I joined the ADA Board to help introduce people and to nurture collaboration where we all win, especially the family living with diabetes. So please help me reach our goal for the Equity Team and turn that $1000 into a $10,000 impact.
