Mary Angelyn Petty was a beautiful educated woman who was known for her great spirit, amazing cooking, love for art, and most importantly her relationship with God. Mary was a mother, sister, niece, aunt, and so many other things. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting her, every Memorial Day my father, grandmother, and I head to the cemetery in memorial and recognition of her battle with Type 1 Diabetes. This year I wanted to challenge myself to get in the fight against Type 1 Diabetes, by raising awareness and funds toward research to create a better life for the 34.2 million Americans currently living with the chronic illness and the other 88.2 million who are suffering from pre-diabetic symptoms. Please join me in celebrating the life of my aunt by donating to the American Diabetes Association and by spreading awareness during the month of November which is American Diabetes Month!
