For over 30 years the American Diabetes Association has provided a unique camping experience for children and teens.  Camp Wana Kura is a 4-day camp held alongside the lakes and under the trees at Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve in San Diego County. Approximately 130 campers living with Type 1 diabetes, ages 5 to 12 attend the camp annually. Over 75 teen aides who are camper graduates, ages 13-17, serve as role models and junior counselors for the children. All youth experience traditional camp activities that allow them to play water games, sing songs, run relays, do crafts, swim, go paddle boating, learn new things and connect with other kids living with diabetes while building new friendships. At Camp Wana Kura, living with type 1 diabetes, does not get in the way of having a fun traditional camp experience.

Now you can help send a kid to camp!  Gather your family, friends and co-workers, sign up a team, share why you are fundraising and walk, ride or swim so that these campers can too!
