WORKING TOGETHER FOR LIFE
Almost 50% of us have diabetes or prediabetes.
The numbers are alarming. This is the everyday reality that we can’t ignore. Lives are on the line. Together, we are working hard to disrupt the status quo through our efforts in cutting-edge research, advocacy and support programs for those living with and at risk of developing diabetes. Together, we are Connected for Life.
Research: Since its inception, the American Diabetes Association has invested more than $830 million in research and provided funding for more than 4,700 research projects.
Camps: The Association continues to be the largest provider of Camps for kids with diabetes as well as weekend retreats and one-day events that benefit more than 6,500 children of all ages each year. $500,000 in "camperships" was awarded to children to attend our summer camps.
Education: The Association’s programs and workshops help those with diabetes have access to the information and support they need. Resources are available for anyone with type 1, type 2 or gestational diabetes, such as the Living With Type 2 (LWT2) program, Safe at School and our Diabetes FoodHub.
Information: The Association’s Center for Information fields an average of 25,000 calls and emails per month to support all people with diabetes, providing great information and resources for those with questions about diabetes.
Advocacy: Our Advocacy team helps thousands facing discrimination and protects the rights of children with diabetes to have the care they need at school and help protect the rights of workers with diabetes by fighting for fairness in the workplace.
