Tell Congress: Support Diabetes Funding!

Diabetes funding for next year is hanging in the balance, and we need your help. Our biggest champions in the House of Representatives asked your member of Congress to sign a letter to the House Appropriations Committee supporting increased funding for diabetes research and programs. Will you tell your representative to add his or her name?

Send this letter to your representative today. It’s easy--we’ve even drafted a letter that you can submit as-is or add your own words.

Stories always make a better case than statistics, and personalized e-mails will have an even greater impact than form emails. Personalizing your letter is extremely important!

Dear [Decision Maker],

The human and economic cost of diabetes is devastating. Today, nearly 30 million Americans have diabetes and 86 million more have prediabetes. What's more, the annual cost diabetes and prediabetes has skyrocketed to $322 billion an increase of 48% in just five years.

This is unacceptable. I'm asking you to fight this horrible disease by supporting diabetes funding in the FY 2018 Labor Health and Human Services Appropriations (LHHS) bill. Please sign the Dear Colleague letter currently being circulated by Congressional Diabetes Caucus Co-Chairs Representatives Tom Reed and Diana DeGette.

To sign onto the letter please contact Fauzia Khan with Representative Reed at or (202)225-3161 or Polly Webster with Representative DeGette at or (202) 225-4431 by COB on Wednesday, April 5.

We must address the diabetes epidemic now. By supporting NIDDK, DDT, and the National DDP, you can improve the lives of all Americans living with, and at risk for, this devastating disease. Thank you for your consideration.
